SketchUp tutorial : drawing tools : arc and freehand

Hello, this tutorial follows this one: SketchUp tutorial | drawing tools: circle and polygon. We will discuss the “Arc” and “Freehand” drawing tools.

We find the tutorial in the following video, as well as examples of possible inferences with the “arc of circle” tool:

outil ArcWe will now look at the “Arc” tool, which will allow us to make arcs of circles. This tool is a bit special to use. To make the arc of a circle you need to follow three steps. Click where you want your arc to start, then click where you want your arc to end, and then you can set the radius of the arc. You’ll notice that when you do this, your mouse cursor changes to show you where you are in the process..

Like the “Circle” tool, you can specify a number of segments. When you are in the last step of creating your arc (when you choose the radius), you may find that the tool will tend to “magnetize” when making a half arc. There are several types of inferences with this tool, you can see some of them in the video at the beginning of this tutorial. We will see in a future tutorial all the possible inferences with the arc.

he last tool we will see in this tutorial is the “Freehand” tool. I show you this tool because it is part of SketchUp, but it will be rarely used (for most people). This tool is very simple to use, it allows you to draw “freehand” (as the name suggests). To do this you click on the “Freehand” button, then you click where you want to start your line, and then you hold down the mouse button and draw what you want. When you release the mouse button you will see that SketchUp transcribes your drawing into segments.

In the next tutorial we will see how to give a 3rd dimension to our models with the face and inference tool.
